In depth

Choosing how to build your website

Custom build or template?

A template gets you online quickly, but you inherit its weight and its limits. A custom build is designed around your content and your customers, and the difference usually shows in five places:

  • Speed: no unused theme code or page-builder bloat, so pages load faster and fewer visitors leave.
  • Search: URL structure, headings and structured data planned from the start instead of patched on later.
  • Growth: new pages, integrations and features fit the structure instead of fighting it.
  • Brand: a design that is yours, not shared with thousands of other sites.
  • Security: fewer third-party plugins means fewer things to patch.

When a template is the right call

For a small site on a tight budget, a well-chosen template is often the sensible choice — and we will tell you when that is the case rather than sell you a custom build you do not need.

WordPress, Shopify, or fully custom?

  • WordPress: content-heavy sites where your team publishes regularly — service businesses, blogs, publishers. WooCommerce adds a store when you want full control.
  • Shopify: online stores that want payments, inventory and shipping handled by the platform, with little technical upkeep.
  • Custom (React / Next.js or PHP): web apps, portals and sites with logic a CMS does not handle well — logins, dashboards, calculators, integrations.
  • Headless: a CMS for your editors with a fast custom front end, for content-heavy sites where speed matters most.

Redesigning an existing site?

A redesign is also a migration. Before launch we list every URL your current site ranks with and redirect each one to its new address, so your search visibility carries over instead of starting again from zero.

Common questions

FAQ

WordPress for content-heavy sites where the client team needs editorial control. Custom (Next.js / headless) for performance-critical or complex interactive sites.

Yes. We do a full crawl pre-migration, map every URL to its new destination, and implement 301 redirects. We also monitor Search Console for 2–4 weeks after launch.

We set up and configure your hosting (Cloudflare, VPS, WP-specific hosts) and hand it to you. We do not resell hosting.

A 10–15 page marketing site typically takes 3–5 weeks from brief to launch. eCommerce or large content portals take longer.

Yes. We design mobile-first and test on real phones, not just a resized browser — most of your visitors will arrive on a phone.

Yes — updates, security patches, backups, uptime monitoring and content changes, on a monthly plan or as needed.

Shopify if you want the platform to handle hosting, payments and updates with minimal upkeep. WooCommerce if you need full control, custom logic, or want to avoid per-transaction platform fees. We build on both.
